Will the CookTop Cover Scratch?

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Customers email us with many questions.  One customer wrote to me to ask if the CookTop Cover will scratch.  The cooktop cover is finished with an industrial strength black satin (or appliance white) powder coat finish.  The “paint” is actually a plastic in powder form.  We spray the powder on in a special chamber and then we bake the finish on at 400 deg F.  The powder melts and flows to form a totally sealed plastic finish.

I am careful with my cooktop cover not to drag any serving dishes on the cooktop cover.  I place them to avoid scratching the cooktop cover.  In addition I place little green felt pads on the feet of my serving dishes to avoid scratches.  An ounce of prevention keeps my cooktop cover looking like new.

We at Cooktopcover.com recently had an inquiry regarding how much weight our product could hold.  My husband Bill decided to give our cooktop cover a real test and stood on it.  He weighs 180 pounds, so that is the answer, at least 180 pounds.  I have many serving dishes made out of all sorts of materials, ceramic, metal, glass but none weigh anywhere near that amount.  I would have to say you are safe in placing any serving dish you have on our product.  Enjoy!
